4W Blue Diode Coming! Single Mode Too !!

I understand where you are coming from, early tech news is often questionable. That said, I won't put my reputation on the line to troll or provide false news - guess you'll just have to wait and see when it is released publicly.

4W Blue Diode Coming! Single Mode Too !!

Do you expect a sworn affidavit? Be grateful people want to at least confirm this at minimum, NDA aside.

4W Blue Diode Coming! Single Mode Too !!

Can confirm these are in existence but can't comment further other than definitely not single mode.

the Golden Age of the laser hobby

You summed it up well. The setting was best for pointer use. Stuff nowadays kicks its ass in majority of cases. Operating and maintaining gas for anything other than personal use is the main issue, why many have been phased out for modern technology in commercial projector applications. Never...

the Golden Age of the laser hobby

I think the golden age of pointers was around 2007~ish. Lots of DIY compared to nowadays and horrifically expensive. If you had a green of almost any power, it was a serious hand cannon to the general public and barely accessible for anyone but the most serious enthusiasts. And it blew peoples'...

best long throwing torch for <60$ ?

If you want a real led thrower, check out XRE equipped torches. They have tiny emitters and glass optics on the package, little since has. Or XPG for a bit more flood. XML has same or better surface brightness now but larger optics required. Maelstrom G5 could be a good choice if you can get a...

    Osram 450 question

Will just shift closer to 445, use less mA for same output, not worth it IMO. Red on the other hand, cool them like the ice age is back in fashion and reap the rewards.

when do you think green (DPSS) laser prices will stabilize?

On the fence about green DI, sure will be the way to go if they do make tight beams of higher power in future, however they seem to be going the way of the flashlight for tv/projector usage, like the multimode blues and reds of higher power. More optics required. We can hope though! Can...

A Theory on Automatic Focus for Lasers

Pangolin tried this, without feedback from the termination point, they shelved it from what I have heard, moving that focus lens is too slow. From memory they tried moving coils, like a loudspeaker. A top of the range 21" 500g paper cone sub, can do about 60Hz before crossover starts to kick in...

    World's biggest laser idiots

This video is definitely one of the most idiotic ones I have seen. Crazy energies, exposed dangerous voltages, no beam dump, no goggles for anyone. Some naughty language.

anything cool in an old copier??

Found a surprisingly hefty iR diode in what I can remember to be an HP 5P. Quite common for printers of that era that we junked.

Driving a 500W LED Panel - High voltage, constant current, buck, capable of 7A?

Check meanwell psus out, some are very high voltage but XMLs are a better choice, 40k lumens of them kicks ass like you wouldn't believe.. Could get the cutter 16 XML boards to save time. And high voltage dc is extremely dangerous, it will pin you to the conductors involuntarily via muscles...

Laser suggestion for 360° laser with cone mirror

    Hope you have done your safety homework. 1W isn't so useful if you can't see anymore. Laser shows from the 70s have an easy home solution for what you require. If you really wanted to do it crudely a tem01 beam could possibly work. Plus existing solutions courtesy of pangolin;

    Laser lumia illuminated obelisk

Amazing results. Were the lasers projected from the external obelisks or internally? That I can't figure out. Very creative. 5 stars for psy-awesomeness. Would be questioning my sanity if I stumbled upon a laser obelisk like that at a gig.

    Shows from this weekend

Great outdoor results with that much ambient light and power available. Looks like you had fun :) Bionic-Badger - seen many a punter lost, standing in front of our visual screens for hours at a time. Probably do the same for lasers if they were not cycled. Things appear a little different to...
