    Micro-Drive laser driver by rkcstr

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module I think the overall turn around time was about a week.  Be Patient.

What to use for time tunnel?

Also a Vibro motor from an old XBOX controller will work too

Micro laser driver - fits Aixiz/DX modules

I thought the circuit board itself has LD+, GND etc.... written on it. I know at least mine did. Also the Gnd trace run down the side of the board, so which ever side you connected your neggative pin on the diode will also be the same side the negative wire will be on.

    Micro-Drive laser driver by rkcstr

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module Received both my drivers on Friday, and they work great. Thanks rkcstr!! Do you still plan on making the fixed value drivers once you start making the adjustable ones?

    PHR-803T for about $20

Got a chance to rip mine open tonight. It is a PHR-803t sled. I won't have time to extract the diode till probably next week. So I can't comment on the actual diode yet.

    PHR-803T for about $20

According to fedex mine is already on my door step. :D Evidently I live in the same city as where they ship. Hopefully tonight I will have enough time to rip it open and see what sled I have. Now I have to live with the fact that I paid $7 for shipping for probably 5 miles of actual travel.

Just ordered one. Comes out to about $25 shipped.

Need tips on NOT killing LDs

I think it was actually closer to $9.50. ;) At the time I figured shipping costs was added to each module. This seems like a hobby I will be doing for a while, so sk8er will most likely be hearing from me within the next year.

Need tips on NOT killing LDs

@ pwnstar & sk8er4514 Originally I was just going to use one of the other modules I had from some cheap pointers that I had disected. I tried for a while last night to get the focusing correct, and it really wasn't coming out the way I had hoped. I went ahead and ordered two aixiz modules since...

Need tips on NOT killing LDs

Ya, I'm an idiot. Now I understand why EVERYONE uses the aixiz modules. I actually have one of my diodes in a module from a cheap laser pointer, and when turned on it basically emits a large red circle through the end of the module. It never even occurred to me that I should put the lense back...

Need tips on NOT killing LDs

Thanks. I have been trying to be carefull with the static.  I have been wearing a strap and have been carefull to always be connected to a ground.  I have been discharging the cap after everyuse, but not the LM317.  I don't know the inner workings of the LM317 that well, but the schematic does...

Need tips on NOT killing LDs

Thanks for the reply. I have done some load testing, with a few LED's in series. I know its not the same as 4 x 1N4001's (which everyone seems to use) but it does still give me a load. Do you guys find this to be a typical type faliure (i.e. bright LED type light being emitted from the LD)? It...

Need tips on NOT killing LDs

I have tried twice to harvest a LD from a 20x Sony burner. Once connected to my driver, both diodes basically look like very bright red LEDs. Before buying any more drives, I am trying to figure out what it is I am doing that could cause the deaths. I have two theories: (1) I have the basic...
