I think I misunderstood jayrob's message.
"It does look that way... But it may still be fine."
I thought he meant there may be a chance that it may still work without it.
I checked it and I am 100% sure that there is a hole there.
Hmm. I will try it without that insulation around the diode pin, if it doesn't work I will see what I can do about it.
By the way, jayrob can you check your PM inbox?
Thank you for your answer.
As you said, I first tried desoldering red/IR-diode and I failed. Then I took the chance of ruining blu-ray diode and tried desoldering it to. And I think I succeeded this time. Does it seem like I succeeded? :D
I have recieved my kit today. Thanks for fast shipping. :)

I have some questions for building. Should I use the diode with 4 legs or 3 legs from PHR sled? (I guess the one with 3 legs)
By the way legs of the diode with 3 legs are a little bit warped. I think that won't be a problem...
Would buying these two enough? Do they protect me from green, red and violet and ofcourse IR.

I know that the laser from DX doesn't have IR filter so I thought protection is needed and important. So...
I think FlexDrive is a LD. Am I correct?
By the way, buying these kits doesn't seem like "do it yourself". If I buy one of these, I think I won't be able to learn anything. Because everything will be pretty much set up for me.
Hi
I am interested in lasers for a long time but I recently started to get interested with inner workings. I read the forum to learn some things and I think I learned a lot.
Now I want to build my first DIY laser (a burning violet one). As far as I know, I need a laser diode, a driver card, a...
