I brunt my finger with 15W IR laser in a burning test before, was lucky that I get my fingers out quick enough. Half of my fingertip was burnt. Some of the cells that grow the skin was permanently damaged. IR LASERS ARE DANGEROUS.
Well I will recommend jl 5W series as it is higher quality. And I am little curious about what you are going to burn like my 5W laser can even make (tiny) holes in iPhone displays.
I believe that there are no commercially available laser that is pretty assembled and is more power. You can make more powerful handheld laser by buying parts and assemble it by yourself (DIY)
Even for burning tests, you will need safety goggles. If you want to look at the dot, use a camera...
