    eBay laser re-labeling

Thanks for the info but its all a bit far from me down here in the South. The plan will be to put a build in the long term projects section of my life. In the meantime I need to go back to electronics 101 as I don't know enough. Ta

    eBay laser re-labeling

Another 532 and 405 arrived. The 405 is putting out ~40mw and the unit comes apart very nicely in order to adjust the focus. I discovered that using a glass of sunflower oil is perfect to adjust the focus as it produces a very clear beam allowing you to see where the maximum focus is. It now...

    eBay laser re-labeling

    Ok, first batch in of six (two of each). All advertised as 1mw 650 1 - 8mw (wow, one that might actually be safe to use as a damn pointer... just) 650 2 - 14mw 532 1 - 25mw 532 2 - 61mw (just about puts holes through very very thin black plastic-won't light match) 405 1 - 17mw 405 2 - 24mw...

    Looking for project to start

I am looking to start some very basic small projects as I am new to the technical side of lasers. I do have access to a fair bit of kit however when it comes to materials and electronics (far more kit than knowledge). I want to try to make an air cooled handheld laser using a micro computer fan...

    Mix of interest and concern

Thanks for the welcome. Where do I go to post a few random questions? Start a new thread or PM someone? I can't find what I want via search

    eBay laser re-labeling

Ah yes, multi quote. Sorry, don't use forums much. Well it does light matches so I guess that suggests it is moderately accurate at >100mw. Will be fun to test the batch of cheap ones on the way.

    eBay laser re-labeling

Just tried this but couldn't make out any rings. The dot on the wall is too bright to make out detail. I have tried to post a picture. (Only got my tab, sorry for bad formatting/rotation).

    eBay laser re-labeling

Nope, just followed the instructions on the image. I imagine the readings are + or - a few %. 113mw was the peak power achieved over 3 tests with new batteries.

    eBay laser re-labeling

As I have a week off and I can't go anywhere at the moment (and because I bothered to make the damn lpm), I have decided to buy a good selection of cheap Chinese lasers from different sellers in red/green/purple to do some general research on what is out there. Any interest on the results when...

What is the significance of the percentage of ir being emitted? Thanks

    eBay laser re-labeling

It seems like people have their heads in the sand in the government and UK trading standards. I have no problem with high powered lasers. I am having a lot of fun with mine and am looking forward to fiddling and experimenting with the ones I have on the way. I have a problem with powerful...

    eBay laser re-labeling

That's what's funny right? It's perfectly fine to sell a 100mw laser as long as you mislabel it as 1mw! But if someone were to sell it with an accurate label I'm sure I would be the one getting in trouble...

    eBay laser re-labeling

Has anyone ever considered making bulk purchases of over spec Chinese lasers and re-labeling them with the correct power for re-sale after testing with a lpm? Does anyone know where you can buy/produce the laser warning labels you get on pointers. Just purchased a selection of other "1mw"...
