Well I have hooked 6V to other laser modules (5mw cheap ones) and it worked fine. So what do you mean the module is toasted? All of it or just the diode? Just the driver? Also why does it still kinda work with a very small dim green dot? I mainly just want to learn what I can to prevent this...

I ordered a 30mw green laser module from dx. I got it yesterday and hooked up to a battery pack to test it out (4 AAA's). It worked fine the first time I pressed the button and was about what I expected for a 30mw. After letting go of the button and pressing it again the laser is now very weak...

I am in the market to buy a few high powered lasers and your site seems to have some good prices. So A low powered sample would be nice. If we are supposed to pick then I'd go with option #1.
