I agree with ProjectX.  I'm glad I got this one.  The battery life does suck but if you can get button cells cheaply then you are good to go. It's funny though because I bought a three- pack of Energizer button cells and they didn't last long at all.  So then I bought a cheap red laser pointer...

Just a couple of pics comparing my X45 to the DX keychain model.

I found a 3-pack Energizer LR-44 today at Wal Mart for a little over 5 bucks. I didn't think that was too bad. When I got home, I found a GREAT deal here http://www.campus111.com/bmclr44.htm $2.95 for 10 Lithiums! :D And $2.95 shipping! 8-)

I don't know if this is right but I think you can get a Visa gift card at several different businesses( like Wal-Mart ). Just put any $ amount on the card and then you can use it online.

My DX 30 mW circuitry looked nothing like that. :(

Oh yeah, I meant to add that the switch on the DX laser was a VERY wimpy switch compared to a switch on an old red laser that I took apart. I would also suggest that anyone with a DX laser remove the foam surround that encircles the spring contact and wedge something under the circuit board on...

Well I decided since my DX-30 died after 5 days, maybe I should head over to Nova Lasers. I just bought their Green X45. I would imagine I'll be happier with it. As far as the DX laser, I took it apart, removed the switch and manually closed the circuit and I was still only getting a faint...

Hmmm.....you may be on to something there. I did notice when I changed the batteries the first time that the new batts were slightly longer than the ones that came with the laser. When I screwed the case back together, the on switch came on by itself, caused by (I think) the extra pressure on...

Well I played with this thing alot last night at work. We have very bright fluorescent lighting at work and this thing was STILL brilliantly bright with even the beam clearly visible! I still have not noticed any drop in performance and I am still using the batteries that came with it.
