um its the fact that the beam is too large at a distance, resulting in short range, but its for my topic which is "drawing with light" and i chose to use lasers as a part of it :) thanks anyway

ok does anyone know the reason for this? i have just bought this laser off deal extreme as i need it for a photography assignment at school when i bought it i received this stuffed up laser... the beam doesn't go very far, is it out of focus? heres photos of close up and far away. (not the best)...

i think he means the window on the diode fell into the diode (if its even possible) and then ended up falling out of the diode. im still learning my way through lasers atm and learning quicky, i need ot buy a diode soon to find out the structure fully but anyway hope you can find out how to...
