    Getting used to laser brightness?

LOL... I've changed my batteries every day... I rotate between 3 sets of rechargeable NiMH AAAs. Sometimes I use alkaline ones but they don't last very long. The laser still lights matches... it seems perfectly fine.

Uncollimated DVD laser - got it for FREE!

I lost my dummy load somewhere. Also, I figured out that the pot on my driver is broken and is not providing enough resistance, and the laser diode was getting overcurrented, so it's dead now. I have to get another driver. EDIT: And another diode - maybe I'll use the IR one I have.

    Getting used to laser brightness?

When I first got my DX50 a long while ago, it seemed blindingly bright when I first put the batteries in and turned it on. I had to squint to look at the dot. Now it doesn't seem so blindingly bright to me anymore. Anyone else notice this?

Uncollimated DVD laser - got it for FREE!

Today, I picked up a free broken DVD burner, took it apart, guessed which diode was the 650nm one, and painstakingly soldered it to my rckstr driver board. I now have a free laser diode to replace the old one I managed to overcurrent. It's powered by a 9v battery (right now I'm using a 7.2v...

Using any fluorescent material to build a laser?

Thanks for clarifying that. I knew it was something...

Using any fluorescent material to build a laser?

But then wouldn't it be a multi-wavelength laser? I'm not sure.

Using any fluorescent material to build a laser?

Is it possible to use any fluorescent material to build a laser? I have some materials which create large amounts of green light when ultraviolet light is applied - I'm thinking that if I could find a very powerful UV strobe and some precision optics, I could build a laser. Any thoughts on this?

    Killed my red diode! NOOOOOOOOOOO

At the highest pot setting, it does absolutely nothing... just a little brighter.

    Killed my red diode! NOOOOOOOOOOO

I've got it in an Aixiz right now. It used to not have a line through it, and it never used to get hot, unless I left it on. At the lowest pot setting, it can't burn anything. Not even red-absorbent blue plastic... I will do some more tests shortly...

    Killed my red diode! NOOOOOOOOOOO

:'( My 650nm <200mW Sony diode was killed in an accident... the current may have been set wrong, or I may have shorted something, or the capacitors were still charged. I used a rckstr microdrive driver... I used 7.2v to test it, could that be the cause? It now lases an oblong shape with a long...

    laser tv??

    Makes sense.

    Laser Healing...?

Also: I didn't have an open wound - just a scrape. And I did it almost every day for a week.

    Laser Healing...?

Does it only work under 405nm? Can I use a DVD laser for the same thing? This is sci-fi technology, people.

    Laser Healing...?

This sort of thing was mentioned on Wicked's site. o_o

    Laser Healing...?

I tried using my 50mW greenie on an injury of mine. What I did was apply the laser all over the injury at a distance of about <1cm. It seems to have healed fast, compared to a similar (but smaller) injury on my hand, which has a noticeable scar. The injury has almost no traces, only a slightly...
