    how necessary is it??

This is how I get mine off. Put the diode into the aixiz then put the aixiz into a vice to hold it still. Then place a small thin peice of metal under the circuit board (I use a very small thin screw driver). Then gently prise the circuit board up as you are applying heat to the pins. If you...

    Proving the dangers?

Loud music, drunk people and lasers DON'T mix. My advice...don't do it again.

    My BR build

There is thermal grease between the aixiz and the washers too, although I drilt the washers out to be a push fit onto the aixiz. In fact there is thermal grease where ever metal meets metal. I even put a small bit on the diode itself before pressing it into the aixiz. As for the current, I...

    My BR build

All these quotes lol....... yes the beam is bright for a BR. the beam shot pic above was taken without smoke in my dark hallway with a quater second exposure.

    My BR build

Yes I agree. I did look for aluminimum washers but couldn't fnd any. However I rarely have the laser running for more than about 30 minutes so steel washers will do the job nicely.

    My BR build

Well I was going to take a pic of the setup with my DMM attached to show the current but couldn't be bothered  lol. But if anyone needs to see it I would lol.

    My BR build

Well either I just happen to have a very good quality diode that can handle 220mA (although after a few days of use and the battery drains a bit, the current drops to about 170mA) or the heatsink I made is doing a good job. However I have now appreciated the benefits of a good heatsink. Using...

    My BR build

Yep it's a full range rkcstr driver running a phr803t diode.

    My BR build

Well the height of the battery. laying on it's side, is about 2mm less than the height of the box, so with a small bit of bluetac under the battery, it fits tightly when the lid is screwed on.

and last of all, a quick beam shot pic of all 4 of my lasers.

    My BR build

Here is my new BluRay build. The box is made from aluminimum and acts as a heatink in itself. The aixiz module has a heatsink made from washers that have heat transfer grease in between them. These washers were then squeezed together before being glued to the aixiz. There is also a washer glued...

heatsink grease when reinsert ld into aixiz?

I used heatsink compound (grease) on my BR diode before pressing it into the aixiz module. I find it does help dissapate heat a bit better. I also made a heatsink using drilt out washers that fit along the length of the aixiz housing. All the washers have the grease in between them and then are...
