    Who Needs A Fog Machine?

i vape elecronic cigarettes.. If I dial them way up, I can exhale a pretty impressive cloud.. Spectacular for waterfall effects (scanning beam) The "nic" liquid is a little bit of nicotine, some flavorings, and I use a 50:50 mix of Propylene Glycol, and Vegitable glycerine for the base mix...

Portal's 'Still Alive' Played by Fiber Laser

best use of a laser.. evar. Now, if only we can get him to play the musical aperture etching laser song on a cake server spatula. Whole kinds of awesome wrapped into one geeky artifact. :D Seriously.. Nice find.. that was enjoyable. Thank you..

Did I catch laserbeams in flight?

Easy.. Turn the film camera up, way past is max sync rate (the fastest shutter speed in which the entire plane of film is exposed at the same time) When you press the shutter release, have a laser turn on, or off while the front curtain is only halfway across the film plane. :)

Laser fire sale Large images PRICE DROP

Re: Laser fire sale Large images Right on there, chief.. Don't let me stand in the way of your sense of entitlement ;) On a side note, so.. Is this kind of normal for K to kind of disappear for a while, or should we be concerned.. Not for the fire sale, but for the guys well being in general..

    determining wave lengths

My 1,000L / mm diffraction gratings came in.. :( Packing slip says 1000 line / mm diffraction grating, but there's 10 polarizing filters in the bag.. Useful, but not for this application, and not what I ordered. Gotta get on the horn with the company tomorrow.. :)

    How does this diode work?

I don't know about laser diodes, but for normal white and blue high-flux LEDs, the substrate of choice is synthetic sapphire.. Perhaps its similar for LDs?

    Le Quack A++!

I traded Le Quack for some electronics stuff, including a custom-built adjustable current regulated power supply. (120V input) The build quality is great.. Excellent work. I would do a trade with him again in a heartbeat. Thank you very much, Le Quack!

    Glow In The Dark

I actually just posted a thread about the GITD board I made for ~$15, I included links to the glow paint (amazon) http://laserpointerforums.com/f44/inexpensive-gitd-board-405s-71762.html Cheers!

    Holographic Laser Warning Decals!

Re: Holographic Warning Stickers for Sale I'm sure you won't be disappointed. I'm getting ready to order another batch myself!

    Inexpensive GITD board for 405s

So, I ended up with some Amazon credit, and after seeing a very cool (and quite pricy, I'm sure) Glow in the dark board (framed) hanging on Yobresals wall, I thought I'd try to make a budget version. I know others have posted methods using fabric and craft paint, and the vinyl GITD sheet is...

    DIY Holography Laser

Very cool.. Thats what I was thinking about doing for a hologram laser (eventually) I looked around, and realized I don't have any 555s at the moment!! Hehe.. Got all the resistors, and caps I'd need but no timers.. Oh well.. Need to remember to pick up a couple my next trip out to radio...

    Three holograms

I do have a couple TECs, and even a couple PID temp controllers (from another project. Converting chest freezers into beer lagering coolers) Might be something to play with eventually.. Hmmm... Man, I can see how one could get *way* into geeking out on this.. My mind is spinning...

    Three holograms

So, I just read that Flogged: You let your laser "warm up" for ~15 min before capturing the hologram? I wanted to make sure my setup would remain stable for 15+ minutes, so I just ran a test.. Over 20+ minutes with my laserbee.. The laser peaked at 107mW, but after 20 minutes was at 104-105mW...

    Three holograms

Oh, I was planing on processing the film plates in my plate tank (its lightproof) and probably transporting them in the same manner. Ooh, and good idea with the exposure plate.. I actually have a wheel with different ND filtering levels 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 1/16 and so on. Its meant for B&W printing...

    Three holograms

Very cool! I finally got a C-6 host in for my LPC-826, and a 200mA driver.. Just got back from a week in Tampa (work) last night, and built the laser this morning. It peaks at 105mW on my LPM, and stays @105 for a solid 2 minutes before I gave up, and turned it off, so it seems pretty stable...
