    identifying LD pins.

Thanks for your help (in this thread and my original first build thread)

    identifying LD pins.

Its this: 300-400mW brand new red laser diode/extracted from LPC-826 [OL-LPC-826] - $9.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

Ah... A is NEGATIVE B is POSITIVE. lol... nearly screwed it all up. Thanks :)

    identifying LD pins.

Am I right in assuming A is positive and B is negative? Should I just connect B And C together like I've seen done on some other lasers I've looked at?

    Resistors for LM317

Yea, suppose I should have scouted around rather than sticking to eBay, I'm always unsure of websites shipping as I live in the 51st state (AKA The UK), Our good friends in China seem to want to sell me all sorts of components cheaply and with free postage, which is nice... even so, I've been...

    Resistors for LM317

I've ended up with enough components to build about 20 DDL drives lol... so I'll leave it as it is for now, it'll do the trick for my first build, I'm just trying to get a feel for things before I go on to bigger and better builds, I hadn't taken the power ratings of the resistors into account...

    Resistors for LM317

300-400mW brand new red laser diode/extracted from LPC-826 - 300-400mW brand new red laser diode/extracted from LPC-826 [OL-LPC-826] - $9.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce Has a suggested safe drive current of 400-500mA so I'm modifying this DDL Laser driver - It can be done with 4x10ohm...

    Resistors for LM317

The output of my DDL is going to be approx 500mA, I've bought 0.25w resistors (10ohm) I'm going to stack 4 of them in parallel... does that pose a problem?

    LM317 Question

So my math is correct... thank you! :) I had to check since I've already bought the 10ohm resistors and wanted a higher current than the 250mA which is produced in the above linked driver. Edit: Had a look at a few of your builds in your sig, awesome... especially the 1.5A old as dinosaurs...

    LM317 Question

Hello All, I'm currently in the middle of my first laser build (Link), and am following the LM317 driver build here, with a 300-400mW red laser diode/extracted from LPC-826 (link). The LM317 build I'm following suggests two 10ohm resistors in parallel, which produces 250ma of drive current...

    First build

Ill have a go at building my own HS, I might just carve a groove into a heat sink and lay the module inside it, it'll have around 75% contact and ill be able to easily remove it. We'll see what I feel like when I get there.

    First build

I can probably make one, I see the basic idea is to get a GPU/PROC HS and basically bore a hole through the middle, slap some heat conductive paste all around that bad boy and away you go... I'll do that. Thanks all, will be back in the new year!

    First build

Oh... almost forgot... heat sink... I'm assuming the diode fits into the Aixiz housing... Which heat sink should I use? anyone have a link to one?

    First build

The hightechdealz diode is expensive compared to the one I've chosen, if all are in agreement as to the compatibility of components in this build I'll begin :) I've decided to use a fairly large box and incorporate this burning setup AND a 532nm 5mw green laser, I'll drive and power each...
