hi all, just thought id document my first ever construction attempt :P. it is a 50mw 532nm module from ebay, fitted in 'custom' washer heatsink with a cree XM-LL host. it took a lot longer than i expected, however i can put this down to my nobbish first time soldering attempts :/. it feels...

hey mate, iv ordered the exact same host and module a 50mw green, (coincidence hey) :) it'l be here in a few weeks, ill give it a go when it gets here, and see how i go. it shouldn't be too hard to tho, i hope :) otherwise ill be in the same boat as you :P, good luck in the mean time, Matti

thanks everyone for the advice, it is much appreciated :) about the heat sink and cooling would the attached host provide adequate cooling? or should i invest in something more substantial? this host also fits a 18650 battery (3.7v), am i able to use this, or would AA's in series be a better...

i have read the thread on driver types, along with many others on the beginning stages and concepts of DIY, i still have a lot to learn tho :) if the module is a 3-3.5V input can you have a power supply of either 3 or 3.5V? does the driver make either safe for the diode?

Hi, i was just wondering about the setup of DIY handhelds. With modules in the attached configuration can you, assuming you have an appropriate host, connect this array strait to the battery/s? sorry for the novice question :), Matti
