It is a DDL driver and it has all the necessary components to keep this laser alive for a long time. About the cable I can shorten it if you want, if you please you can stick the heat sink and the diode inside the hole in the case, I did not do this because of the regulations of the government...

is there anyone that can explain the fda crap to me i dont understand everything you have to do to make them legal. i have made a really nice burning laser and would like to sell it but after i ran into info about Regulations im not so sure anymore :'(

what about soldering, i have thought about what i could have done wrong and the only thing i can think of is soldering. i put solder on the wire and then let it cool and then attached to the diode as quick as i could. i didnt think i could have heated it to much because i touched the wire to...

i just saw this and wanted to post it, could this be a problem, it looks like it was hammered in to the case, or could the USPS have droped the package and killed them?

i used a 3 watt 25 ohm pot from radioshack and it is turned all the way up
also the laser diode does get pretty hot in about 5-10 seconds or so
