i dont mind that the paint chips, as i was thinking about stripping the paint and plasti-dipping it. i have no use for a case either. i was thinking that if the 5mw version of this would run from a AAA it would be cheaper to make them both the same laser, then bin them and sell the better lasers...

also, what did you think about the build of that laser? do you have any similar modules/pointers that you could test with an AAA.

yes i have, i cannot justify spending that on a 5 mw laser, but if a 30mw laser doubles as a 5 mw laser in the same package, at 20 dollars(with battery) i could justify spending that

will this pointer work with a AAA battery, and if so what would you estimate the power to be? i want to get one and if it would drop to <5-10 mw i would consider it safe enough for indoor pointing

i think i have decided on the lazerer 30mw tiny greenie.it uses a 10440 which isnt a problem for me, it's small and rather powerful. if i will be using it inside where reflections are possible i would either put in a AAA battery and see if it will power on or i will get here which should block...

you can get decent 18650 cells from dealextreme, but i do not reccomend their lasers. their flashlights would make good hosts if you had a lathe to make heatsinks.
