Is something approaching 1W of 532nm possible in a big handheld ?

Well I never said that the laser we use is compact. ;) The housing is very plasticky though so I'm thinking the actual internal components don't take up that much room and it's just a bulky shield.

Is something approaching 1W of 532nm possible in a big handheld ?

I doubt it could be done in a handheld. We have a 2 foot long, 6 inch tall 2W 532nm laser in the optics lab I'm interning in, though. :p

Has anyone used the 150mW green laser+ 6 LED device from Rayfoss?

Wow, it's actually overspec? That's nice. I am interested in how much of it is IR but still, a straight 180mW is impressive. That other one is even more interesting; a laser from a cheap Chinese company that nobody here has ever recommended before, that outputs almost double what it specifies.

    Pointing laser at UFO

So? It's still on the first page of the thread list. I never understood why people complain about "resurrecting old topics" in a forum that moves slow. Sure, if you have new posts sprouting up every minute then it's annoying to see old threads resurface, but this forum is pretty much getting a...

    Pointing laser at UFO

I would think that the electricity required to pull that off would cost more than the helium itself. Electrolysis of water is really only about 30% efficient at best, IIRC. Then again, one must consider the advantages of having an exploding weather balloon.

    Help with Rayross 150mw

I have a thread a few posts down concerning this laser: www.rayfoss.com I haven't bought it but it will be my next laser-related purchase. People in that thread have said that their experience with that laser has been good, and hey, it's cheaper than the one you listed and has a (marginally...

Has anyone used the 150mW green laser+ 6 LED device from Rayfoss?

Thanks for the link, and I really look forward to seeing your LPM results. For such a cheap laser I am expecting it to be underspec, but for the price, even 100mW isn't necessarily a bad deal.

445nm flourescence and Wicked shades bring out the guck.

Hopefully that's what it is. :p

Has anyone used the 150mW green laser+ 6 LED device from Rayfoss?

Oh hey, I didn't expect to actually get a reply to this thread again! ;) Thanks for offering to post pictures. If it's not too much trouble I would love to see some whenever you get the time. Also, some information about its burning capabilities would be nice to know. I think it's a very weird...

    Ebay $9 blu-ray pens: GREAT!

This may sound stupid, but how did you find the pot? Did you partially dissect the host until you could see the pot and make an estimation from there on where to drill?

    How do YOU see 405nm?

The only 405nm laser I have is a "5mW" generic New Wish style laser. I bought it from eBay for $9 after hearing here that it's overspec. I see the dot, when on a non-fluorescing surface, as a sort of whitish-violet. Not that I have many other laser wavelengths to compare to (just 405 and 532)...

    445nm laser in a watch !

As far as safety measures go, perhaps you could integrate a small key switch like this one: Digi-Key - CKC8034-ND (Manufacturer - P201133WM03NQ2) You could also make it so that the key not only has to be in but maybe that you would have to hold down two momentary pushbutton switches somewhere...

    Ebay $9 blu-ray pens: GREAT!

I decided to buy the combo pack as well after reading the OP's review. I didn't own any lasers before this purchase. Well, besides cheapo $2 red keychain pointers. They're definitely very cool and not what I'm used to at all. The green one is very, very bright and it almost hurts my eyes to...

    Rayfoss or O-like

I've heard that O-Like quality has gotten spottier recently. I'm not sure about the truth behind that, but the sticky thread about buying your first green laser also says this.

Some help needed in finding a green laser

If it's dark and there's haze, you won't need any large amounts of power to see the beam. Plus, anything above approx. 5mW is hazardous, especially when you know that out of the 800 party-goers, many of them will be boneheads that will try to shine the laser into other people's eyes. I would...
