i ordered a small item on bestofferbuy and i noticed he item does not come up in paypal...so it seems as though if you checkout a >5mw laser all paypal will see is the order number that refers to the order u made in bestofferbuy. this means paypal cant see what u bought...i think... let me know...

ill probly just use a regular dvdrw drive diode.. now i was all about ready to order stuff for my first build but before that i'd like to know which laser module, either axiz or a dx one, would output the most without the need of a heatsink. this whole heatsink issue really made me rethink...

also, will a laptop dvdrw drive diode work just as well as a regular pc dvdrw drive diode?

i have two of these.. dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5914 would a heatsink go over that? i just dont understand how a diode goes into a laser module then a heatsink goes over the module? or the heatsink goes on the diode then fits in the module? and would this suffice for a housing...

im a noob here and since DX wont ship anything over 5mw to the US it looks like i have to make one. Now i want to power a 20x dvd burner diode with a 9volt battery. My brother is an electrical engineer so all he needs to know is how much power is safe to deliver to a dvdrw diode so he can build...

is a white laser possible? the beam would be white and the dot would be white...unless its shined upon something thats a different color....it would be like a flashlight concentrated into a beam...just a thought.. ;D

I kno i kno, they are cheap lasers but i dont plan on spending more than $30 on a laser. I was plannin on buying the true 30mw green from DX but then i checked on ebay and found that the 50mw goes for the same price. Even on DX the 50mw is roughly the same price as the true 30mw but its not...

I think the true 30mw green laser on dx seems to be cheap and worth it...its probly something ill use a while and then get tired of (unless they are highly addicting once you get one ;))....then pick it up again sometime...i personally do not think lasers are worth hundreds of dollars...and also...

ok thanks for all ur input...another thing...i dont have a dvd burner lying around to take apart to use the diode but what i do have is an ooold 4x cd burner...what can expect from that diode? scratch that..i just took it apart...there is no diode in it :o

what if the red diode was swapped with that of a blu-ray ps3? could i get a blue laser that simply or are crystals involved with that as well..

what kind of laser would fit someone who wants an incredible distance, able to burn at fairly close range, and can light up a room when its on? green? red? blue? mw?

has anyone ever taken the red diode out of a 16x dvd burner then...returned the dvd burner to the store to get your money back? lol ..is it possible to get away with? i hope this doesnt get me in trouble :o
