FireMyLaser, I intended to do something just like you did but couldn't find an appropriately sized piece of tubing in my junk box. Its so nice to have a lathe :)

Just thought i'd let you guys know, it is possible to remove the diode/driver from an Aixiz module without damage. I made a little tool to fit over the can of the diode and press against the base to pop the assembly free. Will post a picture if there is interest.
