    Showing off my PHR-803T build

Thanks guys. I'm glad you find it arousing, Harrison. Haha I do rather enjoy it. I don't think there is enough money in the world for me to buy all the laser stuff i want... Oh well, ill have to keep saving...

    Showing off my PHR-803T build

Haha that reminds me... I read a review about LPF before I became a member and the writer pretty much just bad talked the forum and it's members. I've been a member for <month and I haven't even come close to a bad experience! In fact I've been more surprised than anything by how helpful and...

    Showing off my PHR-803T build

 Seriously!? PM sent. That's very generous! I love the way it looks, Makes the host look ten times better. I can't wait to have that on my laser!!

    Showing off my PHR-803T build

Haha, correction, it WAS just a crappy LED torch ( i got it for ~$8 :D ). Now it's badass! I like the straight silver host. Is that your heatsink sticking out of the front? Thanks! The inside isn't too bad, but it could be greatly improved. The design of the host made it difficult to wire...

    Showing off my PHR-803T build

Thanks for all of the compliments, they're much appreciated! I was a little worried about ruining my components while soldering too, personx. Those parts are pretty small and I'm not very experienced with soldering in general. Practice making quick, small soldering connections before you try...

Thanks :D @JLSE, I have a 405nm collimation lens from rayfoss. Would that provide a noticeable increase over the aixiz lens?

    Showing off my PHR-803T build

OK, I know its not a very impressive build (I'm pretty sure nearly everyone makes this for their first laser) but I'm proud of it, damn it. It's a PHR-803T diode. The host is just some crappy Coleman aluminum torch that I sanded for a cooler finish. it's being fed 125ma, but I'm not sure...

    Possible driver substitute?

Hmmm my future goal is world domination... but for now I dont have anything in particular I'd like to burn. Pretty much if it burns, then i want to burn it. I guess if im going to make a very powerful laser I'll hold out till i can afford a much cooler 445 rather than waste a bunch of effort on...

    Possible driver substitute?

The only reason I would be interested in IR is because its cost to power ratio. I want to make a laser that is a powerful burner at some point, and i found some >1W diodes for dirt cheap. That probably means that they are pieces of crap, idk. I haven't researched them much because it will be a...

    Possible driver substitute?

Indeed, tsteele, safety is key. I won't play with anything I am not sure i can handle. I'm starting with a PHR-803T build, but that is just to work my way up to a more powerful laser. So, are the IR diodes able to take more of a beating than reds?

    Possible driver substitute?

Thanks to all for the info. I guess ill just get a cheap diode to tinker with and try this stuff out myself. I've noticed that IR diodes are very cheap, even very powerful ones. Are they more robust than the reds?

    Possible driver substitute?

Hello, Internet I am new to the laser community and my research on this forum has raised a question about the possibility of substituting a driver with only a resistor and a protected battery. I looked for an answer but I couldn't find anything, so I'm sorry if this is a repeat... I read a...

Hello! I am in (dire) need of a flex drive/micro boost drive/anything that will drive my PHR-803T. This is my first build and I'm having trouble finding a correct driver that is preset for me (i dont have a test load). I tried nautilus integration, but its been a while with no response. I would...
