I've read a few threads on here that claim unless the LD is of above average efficiency it can die quickly even at 1.8A which led me to believe 1.6A was maybe a better limit?

I thought these things could store power for a while and that was why they are discharged this way using the leads? So when using a test load, you are saying that as long as you disconnect the power source before the load any capacitor on the driver will already have discharged?

Can that 200mA really make that much difference to a 445, especially with yours being so efficient? Just wondering as I have both a 1.62 and 1.8 drivers coming and all this talk of flickering and going poof is worrying me about the 1.8
