I cannot seem to get an answer from anywhere else so I ask here. I bought a 808 nm 300 mw ir laser diode. What current should I supply to it with my lm317?

I just bought a 808nm 300 mw ir laser diode for a laser I am building. I couldn't find any data sheet for it so I have no idea how much current I am supposed to supply it with. How much current should I send through it? Does anybody here know the answer? Are there any knowledgeable people here...
