How long is the lifetime of this diode @ this high power?

I've recently opened my cheap Genius NetScroll 200 Laser, and there is a classic IR led :D

The laser looks nicely, but... If you are new like me I'll buy the DealExtreme "True Green Laser Pen 5mW", but BE CAREFUL, it is sometimes really overspec. (I've bought it but it still didn't come! I've ordered it on 23.11.2011 (dd.mm.yyyy), but according to some research other people usually...

The funds are a small problem sometimes, but if you take that a DIY red module costs about 20$, I think it isn't a problem really. And yes, I'll buy some goggles too. So, we could probably close this thread and do something "more useful" than just talk about age?

:D yes it is very funny, I must have seen that video atleast 30 times :) Styropyro usually makes useful and funny stuff :) so this was not any exception :) This is a bit off-topic, but when do you think he will finish his RGB laser?

Re: First build; PHR-803T Laser I highly recommend watching Styropyro's video "How to make a violet burning laser". But Mohrenberg's video is very good too! So, +1 rep to Mohrenberg!
