i tried all four charged batteries and it wont work, i have the side thing plugged in and the key turned on too

i know it s charged but im not sure which way the battery goes in. does the flat part go in first or does the metal circle side go in first

I bought a really exspensive laser last year and i whent to play with it and it doesnt seem to be working, when I press the button the red light doesnt go on. Its a green large black laser, if anyone can help me out that would be great.
