Force hard drive actuator to stay in one position

try playing with "this (click)", its free software to stop the motor/galvos and let the beam settle to a fixed postion, you could use a "sample and hold circuit", basically op amps in feed back and very simple to make, or just use the software i suggested, if that does not work then you may...

Force hard drive actuator to stay in one position

stepping back to your original question: to help fix your arm to a position the easiest way is to use an elastic band to center the arm (google it, lots of pics and peoples work in that area) and use D.C. current to control its position, this would also work for an audio source (as in you want...

Force hard drive actuator to stay in one position

well you could get yourself an old servo, the radio controlled type and remove the motor and fit the HDD voice coil to that with the pot inside the servo attached to the pivot point on the HDD arm, just of the top of my head....

    How to control bipolar stepper?

hi its a 3 phase motor, use your DMM on ohms to find the common neutral between the wires then supply goes from that to the others in 120' sine wave phasing, check out Three-phase Y and Delta configurations : POLYPHASE AC CIRCUITS hope this clears things up

    Troubles with HDD Galvos =/

quote: Sourcegeek "I weld two cables to the top of the arm, then i just tried to pull the cables and force the arm to stay at the center, but i didn't worked because the movement is limited =/ " i was pondering the same thing with the hdd arm voice coil, would adding a high frequency modulation...

Simple Laser Power Meter Using IR Thermometer

could this work as a rough calibration, if u set ur laser diode to just above threshold and used the datasheet for the expected mW output to get the multiplier for the thermometer.

    Homemade Scanning Laser Color Projector/TV

true, you pic mentions current limiting, so the transistor is acting as a voltage divider? but i didnt question your Vcc source, i was wondering what voltage/current your diode experience on MAX/MIN video signal, and if the DDL constant current circuit would work. what driver do you use? im...

    Homemade Scanning Laser Color Projector/TV

from this if i used a red LD with 2.8Vf the transistor must then have a 6.2Vf? (9v Vcc) not sure how a constant current source like the DDL will cope with this, it may try to make up for the loss with more voltage? can you please help me and explain this circuit (learning on the fly :D), or...

    Homemade Scanning Laser Color Projector/TV

hmm, thought just occurred to me, if u say used the dummy load in parallel to the LD and modulate a cross fade between them, would this make a nice modulation source as it will keep the driver constant? not sure what circuit could be used, or if theres an IC that could do that, keeping the load...

    Homemade Scanning Laser Color Projector/TV

modulating the IR pump will produce more or less photons, in turn adjusting the output intensity. im sorry if i cant see the problem, maybe you could enlighten me with more of an explanation.

teenager gets 15 months jail for shining laser at heli

quote 'ouch.. 15 months of jail..' would u like it?

    Homemade Scanning Laser Color Projector/TV

the raw video feed would modulate the laser with its analogue signal, just requiring simple amplification to match your lasers power requirement.

    X/Y Scanner question

u'll need some 'scanning galvos' with an 'amp' to power them controlled by the 'correction board' (sticky at the top of this forum - sound card DAC mod), also u'll need some software like LFI Player 3D Laser Display Software | Download LFI Player 3D Laser Display Software software for free at...

How can I understand Light as a Wave?

my problems arise when i try to figure the transverse wave nature of light. as its transverse it has orientation (polarization) with its amplitude along that axis which is also perpendicular to the vector its travel along. (my heads hurting now) so i guess what i meant in a sense was a...
