    5W 450nm - No brand Chinese laser from ebay - $57

@paul thanks, how should I contact you if I'm in Tacoma? @Desoline, and right on cue with your comment, the switch button is now crooked. @electricplasma, I don't have that divergence, it's just not a very narrow beam at infinity, but it does go up to the clouds. Regarding the color, it's...

    5W 450nm - No brand Chinese laser from ebay - $57

If I compare the size of the diode from this photo of the review of a 3W blue laser to the mystery Chinese laser. I'd say we have a 1W diode here.

@vortish, done and done! There is a thread keeping a map of members with a LPM https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1z41e59Zq-478Mx5ALWgJaGINaXc

    Laurent in Everett, WA

Hello everyone, I was introduced to the fun of lasers while UFO gazing about 1 month ago, someone brought a powerful one which beamed so far in the distance that light wasn't instant so it bent like water from a hose being. I had to have one. I just bought one that's advertised at 5W (probably...

    5W 450nm - No brand Chinese laser from ebay - $57

Corrections: At 1m it take 30seconds to poke a hole and I cannot get a dot, it's more of a line of a few mm. If I shine the paper at close range, about 6" I get a sub mm dot and it pokes a hole almost instantly so I can draw with the laser - until the paper catches fire. My guess is the diode...

    5W 450nm - No brand Chinese laser from ebay - $57

This is my first laser >5mW which I bought for UFO pointing a.k.a skywatching, and also to enjoy the nice effect of light bending. That is to say I don't know much about lasers. It came in a metal case alongside a pair of protective goggles as well as a charger and I guess the folks who...

Intensity of laser when hitting a diffuse surface

Thanks Wizard. How does the mW/m2 drops with view distance? Also I notice when I shine the puny 5mW to the wall, the dot of light seems to retain some of its coherence (what I'd call that laser vibe) as opposed to turn into a normal diffuse light why is that? Does that have an impact is the...

Intensity of laser when hitting a diffuse surface

I am receiving a 5W laser from China which is 1000x more powerful to that cheap 5mW I have (I know it'll be closer to 1W but... for sake of argument) I think that 5W shouldn't be pointed at a white wall (diffuse surface) without wearing goggles. A friend tells me it's not a problem because of...
