    Questions about CNI UV.

You can buy much more dangerous things for a lot less money. Kitchen knives come to mind. Yes, a laser can hurt people from a long distance, but if you were going to commit a crime that involved hurting people, what would you use? A $5 kitchen knife, or a very expensive laser that needs to be...

For Sale: PHR-803T Laser in Project box

Like I said, I've no idea what something like this is worth. There's probably $25-$30 in parts and batteries there, and I have no idea what a heatsink like that is worth.

For Sale: PHR-803T Laser in Project box

I don't know the power output, and I don't know how much it's worth, it's not the best build ever... But it does work. The driver is the basic LM317T driver, with an 11 ohm fixed resister, if I remember right. Here's an image of it: http://jake.tscsupport.com/images/Laser/Blu-Ray/Driver.JPG I...

For Sale: PHR-803T Laser in Project box

Batteries = 2x AA 14500 Li-Ion cells, included. Current = 114ma if I remember right. It has a key! yay! Big chunk of copper for heatsink. I do not know the power output. Make offer, I don't know what it's worth.

Why is my LOC diode broken?

Actually, it's not lasing in that picture, I had it tuned just below threshold. It's lasing in this one though: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1547250/LOC_07.JPG Your diode is dead, though I'm not sure what would cause that. I'd guess ESD, because the ones I've killed with over current and back...

    Buying a 100mA Laser Driver

Is it really that hard to turn a knob until the right number shows up on your multimeter screen? If you don't have a meter, then why are you building electronic things? Edit: I'll send you a preset one, for $20, plus shipping Edit2: I can solder the diode to it as well, for another small fee...

    sort of embarrassing question.

Indeed, what else other then soldering could you do with one? Well, Other then grabbing the wrong end(once.)

It lives! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-3t_UxsjKM --FIRE! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znnBV1i0VF0 --SHINY! Next to my 30mw green, the green is brighter to the eye, but my camera disagrees. The laser is about 100 feet behind the camera the this image: Beam though a fire: I think...

<offtopic> I also melted a hard drive today because I was bored: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nub4Z0uHoV4 </offtopic> I hope I don't kill this one. Now, to convince dad to order stuff for me... It's embarrassing, I'm 17 and I can't buy stuff for myself, and the bank won't let me have a debit...

A few questions and lots of pics.

I doubt it will damage it as bad as high voltage will. I once melted the end of a screwdriver off. I am just worried about damaging the module, but I should be able to figure something out. I don't want to bend the back of it, because I will need that to press the new diode in. If all else...

A few questions and lots of pics.

That's what I thought caused it. The resister on the driver is rated at 11ohms +/- 1%, this should give 114ma. my meter's ma setting does not work because I accidentally blew its fuse... So I used the amps setting, giving me 0.12 amps, or 120ma, I suspect that the meter is not very accurate(I...

A few questions and lots of pics.

I had working PHR-803T. I now have a nonworking PHR-803T. I was running it at 120ma, as it seemed to be the most commonly used current. I had built the laser on a piece of wood, but I wanted to put it in something safer, but while I was working on it, I dropped the heatsink(heavy copper core...
