    Green vs. Red laser pointer

As far as burning power, the shorter the wavelength, the more energy photons carry. Essentially uv light is about twice as energetic then red. Gamma rays tend to be the most dangerous but if you shortened the wavelength even more you would find some very dangerous em radiation.

2000 USD to buy a laser that can blast through

Yes they are working on stuff called "metamaterials", right now they can bend certain wavelengths around the object, not visible light though, not yet.

2000 USD to buy a laser that can blast through

As said thats not actually bending light. One of the ways we proved that space-time can be bent was when we could see stars from behind the sun even though the sun was blocking them. It take s alot of mass in order to do that though. Okay ions are not like photons, they are much heavier than...

2000 USD to buy a laser that can blast through

Photon's do have mass indeed. We are using ion propulsion in space. The thrust is very small but over long distances it helps. And yes light is effected by gravity---> just TONS of it though! If you can bend light then you are actually bending space-time! not an easy task however....

    News scares me!

Well DH, I'm not a lawyer or professional organizer. But we do need to protect our hobby from those who do not respect it. On an international basis we may not be able to do much, but nationally with an organized group we can show we do not support the actions taken by the individuals who do not...

    News scares me!

Dark horse, why dont we start a group of responsible laser enthusiasts here and create a website to help legitamize ourselves. Then we write a letter to congress(or someone else) with all of our signatures attached saying we want to help hunt down these criminals without this hurting our hobby...

    FAIL!

lol!!!! hmmm.....net weight: 3200000000000000kg. The kinetic energy from being dropped 1" off the ground would do devestating things.

    heh...

Wow! Now that is what I call customer service! I havn't ordered any heat sinks from you yet Dark horse, but when I do I know I wont be disappointed.

Im loving that host, isnt it a coleman flashlight? My younger bro has one of those. Clean work though!

    High power lasers.

50" of steel!? IF he could build one that powerful.....Im pretty sure anything in the MW range would have trouble with 50 inches of steel.

Question about solar panels and lasers...

Yeah, since most cells are terribly inefficient, I would'nt expect a power return to power something else. Like I said, I just have to have a measurable input to flip a switch for something. Thanks for the info though.

    Laser Welding?

Yep, we use lasers for welding, I believe one name is Electron-beam welding. We also use friction welding. There are tones of other types, GTAW (aka TIG) GMAW(mig) and SMAW(stick). I used to TIG weld aluminum as a career...I miss it though.

    New Defense Contractor Baby!

I remember when I was in the army. -It was against the Geneva Convention to fire .50 caliber machine guns at enemy soldiers, so we were trained to only fire it at equipment -which included canteens, pistol belts, wrist watches and dog tags. Woah! Thats damn inventive!

    New Defense Contractor Baby!

Wait a second, this system is not necessarily for the US, right? Hmmm, as far as A/C options, I was thinking if not the A-10, then probably something like a UAV such as the Predator....But dont quote me on that, im only guessing. Im assuming the key details are classified, so im going to stop...
