That's pretty random right? These were all taken at Porsche Palooza 2010 in Eureka Springs Arkansas. Except the last one, That was a random curb in Oklahoma.
Fairly unreasonable, yes. If they just see it shining into the sky and it doesn't hit them then the only reason that they would do anything like that is because the people flying were being jerks. I don't know how powerful your lasers are (I assume your 445 is high powered.) so I don't know...
It's always a good idea to scan the sky multiple times before you turn your laser on. I know sometimes I will shine mine and then realize that there is a plane that I am almost hitting. I would say that as long as you super duper extra careful then you should be ok.
As far as not getting in...
This is scary because I ordered their 100mW NewWish 650nm laser. This is the first time I have heard of issues with O-like. I'm just glad I spent less than $20... I suppose only time will tell if I got a broken laser.
If you have goggles then you should be able to focus it enough to easily light matches and burn through electrical tape. If you don't have goggles... well you really shouldn't be trying to burn things in the first place.
I'd love to be right there with ya! One of these days the government is actually gonna crack down on all us laser enthusiasts because of a few people. Maybe they just need to make aircraft windshields with giant safety goggles :na:
For the laser, you could get a 100mW 650nm laser from O-like for $17 with standard shipping. Just as everyone else has said goggles for a laser of this power are a MUST. Especially if you are wanting to burn. You only have one set of eyes after all.
