I'm just happy this thing turned out alright, my dad and relatives are astonished I can build something like this at my age. They think it is alot harder than it really is. Just think, if you didn't know how to build one then it would sound like building a laser would be very complicated.
I tried it on my peanut butter too, its pretty cool. Makes you wonder what they put into it though ::). I tested it out on some regular ol' peanuts and they did the same thing, its kinda wierd. I'll have to ask my chem teacher about that.
Thanks Jay for answering Wackjobs questions for me :)...
Thanks for the compliments, it really feels nice when people say good things about something that took some frustrating work to build. I haven't tried the peanut butter trick but I found something very odd that is very similar to it. When you shine on concrete sidewalks or driveways during the...
Re: My first Blu-Ray!!!!
I try to be careful with mine, I give it a huge duty cycle. Its like 30 seconds on and 1-2 minutes off ;). I make sure that no wires twist or the laser gets bounced around. I expecially enforce my guidelines onto my buddies when they want to use it. I really love this...
Wow this thing is cool! Constructing it was more frustrating than I predicted and took 4 days >:(, but I finished it and it is working. It is an 803t diode running at 125mA with an rkcstr fixed output driver. I used the old 5W MXDL host to put it in, the two CR123's give more than enough voltage...
I just wanted to finish it tomorrw morning, i'm really anxious :). Woodburning irons are pretty much the same as soldering irons but they just call them "Woodburners" because they produce a little less heat and are compatible with other tips (I have one that is the size of a pin!). I'm not going...
Gonna put mine togeather tomorrow hopefully. If I get it done before work I'm sure to be the talk of the day ;D. Only problem is that its been awhile since I've used that soldering iron and I turned it on today and it seems to have shorted itself out or something, it doesn't wanna heat up. So I...
Re: pre-order phr803t 18$ read first post for upda
I just did my fist extraction today :). I was really worried about shattering the window or dropping it. For me the hardest part was snapping the heatsink off, The stupid pliers kept slipping but it worked out eventually. I got the diode inside...
Wow, that really works out good for you :). Now you don't even have to pay for shipping. I hope they work out alright, it would make another nice GB ;).
Re: diode identification
Either do that or play 50/50 and hook one of the diode up to the driver, if it lights up red then you got your burner diode. If not, you've hooked the driver up to the IR diode, and you can just de-solder it and solder the other diode on ;).
I wouldn't expect the free samples to be perfect in the sense that they were not planning on sending him free samples anyways. The point is that the company does not give out free samples, therfore they have no seperate "Bin" for the perfect samples which should mean that he will get the regular...
I got a shattered window on mine....... :'(. Don't know if it was the broken part of the sled or if it was kicked around the post office room before it got to me. The last possibility seems the most likely because you should see some of my packages that I recieve from DX....... The rips, tears...
