Hello,
I need a laser power meter so that I can measure the laser's optical power characteristics.
Something which can read from low as 30 milliwatts (mW) to high as 10 Watts (W).
Would like some recommendations on various branded used ones or maybe some new Chinese ones.
Not sure which ones...
Thanks for the reply and info.
Its for a custom project and it needs to be at least 1-3 watts of optical power.
Used in a special CNC project and not related for night vision.
I see that ODIN lasers are selling one for $700 for an 808nm 3 Watt and not sure if it is legitimate and what type of...
@RedCowboy, thanks for the reply.
Spending $7.5K (before tax and shipping) for such pulsed laser driver seems way over my budget and experience at the moment, I was wondering maybe if there are some more affordable approach, maybe DIY a pulsed circuit or buy a chinese one to experiment with and...
Hello, I would like to get an idea if I can make an 808nm 3 watt laser myself or is it just better off simply buying one from Odin:
Here is their laser 3watt 808nm laser pointer link to get an idea:
https://biglasers.com/product/odin-infrared-ir-laser-808nm-980nm-1064nm/
Can anyone explain how...
Hello,
I see that a 905nm laser diode is "pulsed" and can give an output wattage of 100 Watts.
Wonder if anyone was ever able to drive/modulate/pulse it and can explain how it can be done:
Also what kind of laser safety goggles needed...
Hello,
What is the most powerful infrared (≥ 800nm) laser diode and also which manufacturer makes them?
I'm checking at "civil lasers" website and currently the most powerful Infrared diodes they have are only 1 Watt:

Thanks for the reply @WizardG.
Yes, I intend to use an arduino to do the PWM, if it helps I would use pure assembly code and use AVRDUDE to flash the AVR chip or use STM32 chips without using arudino IDE since it bring a lot of latency.
Alright I will look up on application notes and see what...
Interesting, thanks for the reply.
This really simplifies things and only a gate driver chip is needed. So I can easily send 5 - 30KHz TTL/PWM to the gate driver chip you provided?
How would I make the circuit? Can you share any simple schematics? Is it heavily involved in designing? I have...
Thanks for the reply.
It is possible to use a gate driver IC to modulate the laser diode alone without the Mosfet?
If so, I did not know this could be done. Have any schematic on how it is implemented?
The laser diode I have is a 50mW UV 405nm, requires a high frequency range so that I can...
You think the IRLZ44N Mofset can be used by microcontroller to modulate the laser diode?
It is a logic level Mosfet, wondering if I could use it, so does this means OP’s circuit discussion of using two transistors is still required?
Thanks.
1msg equates to what frequency?
I am contemplating if I should use OP's circuit discussion or use the tried and true LM317 + Mosfet.
Designing a low powered (50 mW) UV laser engraver for a CNC to make PCBs, needs around 5 to 30 KHz TTL/PWM for the laser diode.
Hello I have some 405nm Sony and Nichia laser diodes ranging from 400mW to 7 W.
I want to make some greyscale engravings or markings onto paper using a small desktop CNC using GRBL.
Curious if anyone knows how to make a PWM/TTL laser driver circuit, how can I make one?
Would be using a micro...
