    ECDL setup with custom controller

Last time I wrote introduction post about optics in the ECDL. Now let's talk about custom driver designed for it. The driver has to do the following: Provide low noise, constant current for driving laser diode drive two Peltier modules with sufficient resolution Measure temperature of important...

    ECDL setup with custom controller

FSR is 1.5GHz (as you can see I put round trip ~250ps) but to analyze pulse evolution in laser cavity you need much higher bandwidth thanks to highly nonlinear effects in the resonator: https://sci-hub.ru/https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/7078...

    808nm optics. collimators, cylindrical lenses

Anamorphic prism pair or cylindrical lens pair with f=+40 i f=-4 (or something close to make ~x10 telescope in reasonable space). Additionally, I'm looking for a bunch of collimators, preferably M9. And lens with focal length around 40mm.

    808nm optics. collimators, cylindrical lenses

LD + collimator is like $40. 20% loss forces me to add like 2 more diodes to the setup and align optics better to squize into the cavity

    808nm optics. collimators, cylindrical lenses

Hi, I'm basically trying to collimate and shape a 808nm beam to pump Nd:YAG, but all quotes for optics I got were outrageous.

    525nm>589nm Dye laser cell Build

How exactly are the coherent dye lasers called? One more hint, chloroform and quartz have almost exactly the same refractive index.

    Path to orange - Advice?

It's not that hard. Question is only about MOC

    525nm>589nm Dye laser cell Build

The only CW dye laser I ever saw without dye circulation used a single mode diode with very high Q resonator to overcome a really, really low gain due to triplet bleaching. You can't really use multimode pump, as then magic happens in lower intensity points, greatly reducing your gain (ok...

    Path to orange - Advice?

I actually have a monolithic design that may work but requires so much customization that optogama already said 1k pcs minimum. When you start putting it into "proper" construction as @fabre2 said it'll get quickly expensive. At minimum, you need crystal, OC and best form lens to reimage pump...

Low voltage, HC driver for a coherent FAP module?

well clearly suipply voltage selection refers to driver's heat output, not LD heat output.

Low voltage, HC driver for a coherent FAP module?

No clue about CPU but modern GPU converters are natively CMC with feedforward from clock scaling logic. Otherwise inductor current ramps down so much slower than consumed current that you need absurd capacitance (in dozen mF). So when you want to ramp down clock you actually first inform PDN to...

Low voltage, HC driver for a coherent FAP module?

Coherent doesn't agree. Original driver is very much voltage output. They just control temperature to 0.1K.

Low voltage, HC driver for a coherent FAP module?

Linear stage is just wasteful. I'm thinking about a simple, polyphase, current mode converter. Current measurement is already used for balancing, so no need to do current mode -> voltage loop -> current measurement. Considering that some people here want to use cheap chinese buck converter, no...

    UV Lasers

They don't. That's actually quite cheap for laser system. Only terrible beam quality diode lasers are cheaper (when available)

Low voltage, HC driver for a coherent FAP module?

I'm slowly designing a switching power supply for my FAP usage. It's polyphase buck converter downconverting 12V input. It'll be a while though before I'm done, but it's already around $100 in parts. There's a reason big part of verdi is just psu. How do you polish home grown crystals?

    ECDL setup with custom controller

The roundtrip time of this resonator is around 250 ps so 10+ GHz photodiode would useful for analyzing pulse forming in external cavity (but that's foreshadowing future events 😊 ). I have access to 28 Ghz 4 channel oscilloscope, so that's not an issue. The best I could find that don't cost an...

    ECDL setup with custom controller

I don't want to share all the details, but there'll be some synchronous pumping, some supercontinuum and a lot of fast photodiodes involved. btw I can't keep myself and have to ask @kecked where did you obtain you 10 and 30 GHz photodiodes?

    ECDL setup with custom controller

I need reflective grating for ECDL. If you'd somehow managed to make a grating that reflects 20-60% of the beam in Littrow configuration, I'd be very interested to test them. Otherwise there's Edmund Optics ruled grating for €80 that seems to fit the bill.

Need help with 905nm Pulsed laser driver

There're so such thing as cheap pulsed driver for fast laser diodes. I'm willing to guide you through and share my article on the topic, but you need to know it'll be a project requiring custom-built RF circuit board (100ns pulse has to have edges at single ns range and that has harmonics into...

    ECDL setup with custom controller

In this multi post series, I'll describe step by step series how I built by ECDL setup. Let's start with physical construction. Design In this build, I'll use diffraction grating to reduce the bandwidth. The grating will be operating in Littrov configuration. In this case, it's beneficial to...
