Thanks CDBEAM777, titanium isn't much more difficult to machine than aluminum, though it does have very poor thermal conductivity properties so keeping your cutting tools cool while machining is critical.
Just got done with my third build and decided to post all three of them.
The first is an Nubm07 w/G8 lens running on a blackbuck 8m set to 4a with the potentiometer installed also including the sanwu 3x expander. The heatsink was machined entirely by me along with the titanium potentiometer...
The handle was just a ThorII host I machined down to get rid of the tactical look. The clear section is cast polyurethane resin I machined to accept the handle and heat sink. 80% of it I machined from stock material. The clear section was also to separate the handle from the module since the...
I have actually tried getting it working again, the mount that holds the crystal looks like its actually held in place with what looks like hot glue. What happened was I tried adjusting the lens and it became stuck and was very out of focus so I machined off the face of the section that holds...
I was lucky enough to get two of the 575nm OPT modules that were briefly available, one of which I killed  and the second I was able to retrofit into a handheld unit :yh: its driven with a SXD-V3 set to 1.8a powered with two 16340 batteries. Unfortunately the color comes out green on in my...
Sorry to hear about your shipping troubles Alaskan, I was following your endeavors hoping to see how the blitz buck would turn out for you. I was considering ordering one myself to turn mine into a handheld. Hopefully it turns up for you.
I have two of the 50 mw 575nm units from OPT lasers. I did see some interest in powering these with a driver that the community is more familiar with to possibly implement this module into a handheld unit. I'm curios if anyone has done so successfully yet? I know the module needs to be isolated...
Hello,
I've been on the forums for a while incognito, and figured it's time to make an account. I'm a mechanical engineer, and I like keeping busy with projects that allow me to build and use my hands. Hello All.
Cheers!
