Is there anywhere other than flashlightz to buy a Pila IBC charger? Google isn't showing me much love..

If this Pila charger is so good, why aren’t there more sources for them?

Thank you, I'll have to check out the links when I get home. Work firewall is blocking most of them as "reason: Weapons", I guess better that then being tagged as porn or something.. Well, porn is worse but weapons is a close second.

Curious as to why not just buy it from flashlightz? You can get them elsewhere as outlined above, but your not going to save any $$ doing so.

Your right, I had found and dismissed several of those sites prior to my posting due to being more $ than flashlightz or not in stock. Flashlightz appears to be the cheapest but I'm still curious as to why a quality, cheap, plug-n-play would not be more readily available. Maybe just to small a market.

I ordered it, canceled order (after finding an ACCUCEL hobby charger, then read that it can not deal with cells with varying charge levels at the same time), will reorder the pila from flashlightz as soon as they acknowledge my cancel so I don’t end up getting two.

Or I might just get an accucel and use it for one cell at a time. It seem quite tweakable. I'm new to lasers, chargers and batteries so I'm reading as much as I can.

Not the whole thing, just the first page, then searched every page for "ACCUCEL".

What's the general conclusion/consensus in it?

I think is shows the "Infamous" DSD charger is relatively a good one, especially for the price, while keeping in mind it's slowness in getting the job done; but safely.

Keeping in mind it really is only a single channel charger and only uses the Constant Current method at the transformers rated output (~450mAh) to ~4.25V, followed by true charge termination; no trickle charge, and that's good.

It does not switch from CC to CV (Constant Voltage) @ 4.20V, this makes it a cheap charger BUT test yours out with a DMM because I own 4 of these and all 4 of them are at 4.20v during the entire charger process; so really for the money it's hard to beat this one and is relatively a safe charger.

Some have reported their DSD's have charged their batteries to above 4.25v NOT good, so again you'll to test each one to be sure, China quality can vary on this product. I usually test every single battery coming off the charger and have good luck with this not ever going beyond 4.20v they range 4.17 - 4.20v

Reading through some of the others on that thread is scary.

I'd still recommend the Pila if you don't mind spending the money because it follows most Li-Ion manufactures charge recommendations for their 18650 cells to a "T".

What I learned from the German site is there is apparently another charger out there that is really good and follows the CC/CV rules.
The surprising part is the company selling it is in the USA and the price $14.50, they even have a test graph on their site and you can also purchase a car adapter for it.
