I used 4 ZnSe plano convex lenses trying to make my own beam expander. But the amount of precision involved in making it work is very hard. Also I wonder if making a beam expander is even possible when using only plano convex lenses.

My new laser rifle burning newspapers. The red point is the aiming laser. The 3rd paper is too wet to catch on fire, but as you can see dry papers catch on fire almost immediately. Video of the laser in action:

Yeah😊. But it's nice decoration for now, I am thinking about changing the design to make it much more compact. Or just build a new one that is much stronger.

With cnc the laser has to operate for a long time so of course you have to use a water pump but because I use my co2 laser as a “gun” I just filled it completely with water and don’t fire longer them 1 min. I use a 6500mah battery; it’s good for like 7/10 min of fun🙃

Here are some other videos: The laser also burns a little when it’s not triggered, wich I had to find out the hard way: I was setting up a burning target when suddenly smoke appeared on my shirt 😅. It isn’t a big problem though; it burns much stronger when triggered.

I didn’t do any real measuring but I would say somewhere around 10 meters max: at that distance it still burns but the laser does need to stay really steady, so no single movement.
