    laser crystals bonded with q-switch

I tuned the schematics and configs. The best result so far was using 4 caps of 240uF/330V each lamp, two caps connected in series to form 120uF/660V caps and two sets of them in parallel. So total caps in each lamp is 240uF/660V. Coil was added in series. It slowed down the rising edge a bit...

    laser crystals bonded with q-switch

Thank you Steve. I just measured the timing of the flash lamps (two lamps with same trigger)... I am trying to adjust them and will post the results. I haven't used external mirrors in this experiment. Just with the coatings of both sides of the rod (S1: HT@808, HR@1064; S2: PR=60% @1064)...

OK they sell varies crystals, mirrors, lens, prisms and active Q-sw. I am quoting diffusion bonded crystals from them - for Q-switched DPSS. You could let me know what you want in mind, as I can ask the seller for you. I live in China.

The output from Q-switch as two peaks. What might cause the first smaller peak?

To Alaskan: Please check out the website: https://shop118323182.taobao.com/category-1267132237.htm?spm=a1z10.5-c.w4010-12779434483.10.kahtEN&search=y&parentCatId=1267132234&parentCatName=%B2%C4%C1%CF&catName=%BC%A4%B9%E2%BE%A7%CC%E5#bd it is in Chinese though, please try google translate...

This is just Cr:yag crystals....I guess they are for skin treatment machines

    laser crystals bonded with q-switch

oh It is CR4+:YAG, about $35 each...V:YAG is cheaper Also there is EO Q-sw for about $400... And I am quoting for a microchip laser cavity which is 1.5mm Nd:Yag bonded with 0.5mm Cr:Yag and double side coated with mirrors. Price about $400/pc at quantity of 10. I modified the volt back to...

    laser crystals bonded with q-switch

Did more tests on the four lamps config. I didn't change the lamps into series yet. This will take more time to change the circuit. However all lamps are triggered by the same HV wire. I guess they aren't going to have much difference in flashing time? Changes were: 1. Lowered the lamp volt to...

    laser crystals bonded with q-switch

I did some more work since last post. I made a cavity capable of 4 flash lamps and the rod, plated gold for reflection. The flash lamp used has a diameter of 4mm and length of 44mm. It is with quartz tube. For now each lamp is powered by 600uF capacitors (2 X 1200 uF /360V in series) charged...

Thank you very much Steve. You are right it really doesn't lase in this configuration. I'll try add an OC close to the Q-switched end and see if there is any..

    laser crystals bonded with q-switch

Have built a simple setup using a camera flash. The energy sensor hasn't been arrived yet. Still don't know if there is laser pulse coming out

    laser crystals bonded with q-switch

Do you want YAG only or with Q switch crystal? What's the dimension? for Nd:Yag rod there are plenty of sources... Rework of the crystals is expensive... i would rather buy a new used one

    laser crystals bonded with q-switch

Thank you all. So these seem to be side pumped rods. i'll try to use flashlight first. I have used 40W diode bar from ebay. however designing the constant current power supply seems to be a lot work... Yes I have a Coherent laser head and its main crystal is so 2-3mm tiny... already with 10mj...

    laser crystals bonded with q-switch

I used a PIN diode based detector(mainly for pulsed laser diode), and then connected to a 500MHz(4GSPS) oscilloscope. Maybe it is not suitable. AM looking for a used Ophir sensor for that. They should be supposed to be end-pumped, with rear side coated with 808HT and 1064HR. I am not sure...

    laser crystals bonded with q-switch

The ND:YAG part is 3x3x35mm, the CR:YAG part is 3x3x3mm. Yes it is coated on both ends. However I tried to pump it with 5W 808+/-2nm C-mount diode/FAC and focus lens and nothing out... So I am thinking about if to pump it with flashlight from camera first
