optical models for the 'G' lenses

So think i've found a possible basis design that the G2 is modelled on. Edmund optics has an asphere lens for 405nm, D6.325mm, FL4.02 [https://www.edmundoptics.com/optics/optical-lenses/aspheric-lenses/Blue-Laser-Collimating-Aspheric-Lenses/ Stock #83-990, and they have a zmax file that can be...

optical models for the 'G' lenses

Ah yes true enough. Unfortunately the D 25mm, 30mm FL has really large separation distances between the diode; 40mm from diode to lens and then 80mm to get down a spot. The other plot is estimated asphere (all coefficients zero) with same diameter (6.33mm) and focal length (4.02mm) as the...

optical models for the 'G' lenses

That's the way i've been looking, but i don't have the data to work out /calculate spot diameters and distances using the G2 or similar aspherical lenses. I dont think the planar convex is able to focus to a spot from the diverging output of the diode, but would work after collimation. Having...

optical models for the 'G' lenses

apologies, yes this is a printhead, planar 2d movement a fixed distance from a glass bed. With the lasers operating variable duration pulse widths to control the total energy per pulse.

optical models for the 'G' lenses

Well the best i've found so far is Dia 6mm, 5mm focal length biconvex lens [https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Diameter-6MM-Focal-length-5-MM-UV-Fused-Silica-Lense-Double-Convex-Lens/32637495405.html] Which seems to produce the required spot size using the slow axis 19deg. See attached ray plot...

optical models for the 'G' lenses

lens diameter somewhere from 3mm up to 10mm which is set by the size of the module array of x6 to make an evenly spaced grid of 3 x 8

optical models for the 'G' lenses

Thanks, i've sent a question to the folk at light machinery, will see what information they may be willing to share. The best bet at the moment is looking like bi-convex / double convex lenses. Best prices i've found are ~$13 each, but because i need 24 of them i'm hoping that there may be an...

optical models for the 'G' lenses

Does anyone have optical models or the relevant information to produce optical models for the standard aspherical 'G' lenses? I'm using the free WinLens3D basic software to rough out lens options. I'm trying to find the lowest cost solution to get from 405nm laser (SLD3236VF) ~150mW down to a...

    TO-can opener

    yes, it's my design

    TO-can opener

So I thought I would share the design for a TO-can opener (for de-canning TO laser diodes etc.) that may be useful to people. It's a similar design to the Thorlabs WR1, but uses 3D printed parts and low cost components (total cost of components if you have access to 3D printer should be ~ $20)...

    unexpected behaviour - 405nm driver - solved

It would certainly work for them but as pointed out there are other projects that would be better suited for binary nature of exposed/unexposed for etching / resist applications. Where this differs is in having control over essentially the numbers of photons that hit the pixel area. Exactly the...

    unexpected behaviour - 405nm driver - solved

The IC can run on 5V supply and source current at a voltage of up to 12V, so pretty flexible. With a price for singles of $3.12 from here http://www.semiconductorstore.com

    unexpected behaviour - 405nm driver - solved

Re: unexpected behaviour - 405nm driver Yes it looks like you are correct, the system is starved (under volts) if i bring the voltage up to 5V across the diode then output current is as expected ~50mA I will run some more experiments. Thank you for your input, another set of eyes is always...

    unexpected behaviour - 405nm driver - solved

Re: unexpected behaviour - 405nm driver During operation; from LD anode to ground was 5.26V from common / cathode to ground was 0.66V across the diode is 4.60V current through is ~32mA (measured off 0.2ohm current sense resitor) This is for a project to design a UV light exposer where I will...

    unexpected behaviour - 405nm driver - solved

Re: unexpected behaviour - 405nm driver The supply voltage at the diode is 5.2V and the drain voltage is 0.66V. For a control voltage of 1.40V with current through the diode of ~31mA. So if the difference over the diode should be 5.3V then I would need to add an additional 0.66V to the supply...
