What type of laser?

Hello I am new and want to build my own laser for my pistol. I would need it to stay under 2 inches in length so im curious as to how strong of a laser i would need? I wouldlike it to have a strong beam at about 40-50 feet. Any suggestions as to the type of laser?

a green (532nm) laser for sure.

most gun lasers are <10mW which will do, its up to you either way.

Thanks man, know of any tutorials to make extra small lasers? like i said it needs to be 2" long or less and as skinny as possible, could possibly be a tad bit longer if need be. No one make lasers for my style gun so home made is the way to go.
