This is great idea, I think I might try this.
There is something I have in my head as well - to do hot fit, heat up AL housing a lot (~400-500C) - it should expand and jam copper laser host in hole quickly hoping it will stay there dead when housing cool down.
Thank you guys for support! I...
Thank you for suggestions, major issue is to have good interference between laser host and waterblock, In my case I do have some play between 12mm host and aluminium body, so I believe there will be the worst thermal interface in whole setup. I have to come up with good solution to this. May be...
This is build log for the water cooling module for 3W 445 nm Blue Laser ( NDB 7875 ), to allow laser run at 2.4A for extended amount of time. Practically you can use any kind of laser diode in the standard AIXIS style 12mm module, current will be limited by capacity of FlexMod

Alright if someone interested in my Investigation:
Looks like fixing FlexMod is no go, after replacing mosfet and fuse I got nothing, and eventual overload of 1A limited PSU.
I noticed that it has 2 TVS diodes rated 24V, one on modulation input, another on LD output +, kinda wondering why 24V on...
Thank you ARG !
Main idea here to NOT mod anything in printer. Everything was pretty much easy, what gave a lot of grieve is 24V, as you know from another thread :)
Workflow is simple:
- Get Inkscape
- Add Laser engraver Extension ( found in internet ), whcih saves path as gcode.
- use gcode...
I'm happy to share initial prototype of RigidBot laser cutter, utilizing 2nd extruder place and parts. This is really early prototype, but it frigging works and I'm so excited that I decided to share :)
I run 405nm laser at 600mA, with proper heatsink. All this crap mounted on custom designed...
What about idea of replacing: IRLIB9343 by
this - http://www.irf.com/product-info/datasheets/data/irf9530npbf.pdf
I'e checked specs - seems good too me.
I don't think this is relevant comparison.... Overheating of mosfet would be critical failure, and when this happens it shorts and sent all Vin to diode... where is protection from driver failing?
But lesson learned - and lesson is - LEARN The hardware you work with.
I guess for schematic I...
So what would be the right solution - can I stick befoer FMod DC-DC switch mode converted like some of those one hand low from ebay, providing it can handle 4A?
LM2576 based for example?
Edit: LM2576 is 3A max, some other regulator like this
Reading doesn't mean understanding
I though Maximum continuous power dissipation, is output power, in my case I would have been less then 25W.
Can you please share how did you estimated 50W of dissipation?
Thank you for mosftet info!
Also kinda sucks that there is no LD protection, having...
I have fried NDB7875 now, because of ded Mosfet on FlexMod P3
I want to do problem analysis to make sure I not going to repeat this again.
Setup:
FlexMod P3.3 with Bigger heatsink then original and Fan blowing on it
NDB7875 in copper AIXIZ module inserted in 12mm heatsink housing, fan blowing...
Update:
After dooing a lot of searching and actually using FlexiMod P3
I need to update my list of requirement:
I need switching mode laser driver which can take 24V and drive up to 4A and can be modulated with Analog/ PWM / TTL.
As much as I like FlexMod driver it heat up the room at 24V -...
Input and Offset? It has Gain (I assume Input), Balance and 0 Bias (I assume Offset) potentiometers... I did set those in a way that with 0 on M+ I have 10mA and with 5V I have 350mA.
I cannot, I don't have access to that pin. unless I willing to mod the board!
So after poking around, I actually used opto, which let me to not care about whatever comes to E1-FAN+/E1-FAN- as long as it can trigger phototransistor.
I used salvaged from PSU PC817 added few current limiting...
It is 0-5V goes to Atmega pin
Actually It measures 5 milliVolts :) ... I think it marginally nothing.
Thank you for you great ideas! I will play with it, and will post result here with my results, also I have to treat that controller boards as black box and use only provided outputs.
