I measured a center wavelength of 656.3nm when ran for a quick burst at 1.5A. It's crazy how much red light this thing produces! I'm not used to so much 650nm+ light. :D Power tests will have to wait for the time being. Even though the beam is messy and divergent, the novelty of so much red...
Beam at 11ft gives a divergence of very roughly 25mRad. Beams are not aligned with each other well. Both the beam alignment and divergence are worse than the nichia blue LDAs
I bought some of the arrays off of AquaticHarpy and I'm finally getting around to running some tests. These are indeed legit red laser diode arrays. It's pretty wild that AquaticHarpy was able to buy these so cheaply from an eBay auction as I haven't yet been able to find anything like this...
My best skill in this hobby is eBay. :D for that 375nm pen build I bought an "as-is" Melles Griot laser head that luckily had a good laser diode inside.
Why do you need a UV laser to shine that far?
It'd be easier and cheaper with one of these https://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-3v-6v-to-400kV-400000V-Boost-Step-up-Power-Module-High-voltage-Generator-new/191879578507?epid=0&hash=item2cacea038b:g:C10AAOSwJ8hcdygO
(it's a project I'd like to try soon)...
Thanks for the info! In that case put me down for a 800mW 532nm PL-E Mini, but if they only go to 600mW I'll settle for that! Yeah I realize the brightness difference is pretty negligible, but 800mW of 532nm in a host that size would be a bit of a feat in itself so I can't help but want it. :)...
Finally got around to messing with mine! I'm running all 4 strings of diodes in parallel at 3.2A per string. Beams aren't perfectly aligned but look better than I was expecting.
The raw output power of visible light in a handheld laser is INSANE! I think the beams point slightly inward or at...
yeah I'm more interested in those FAC corrected diodes!! For the record I've ordered from the eβay seller linked to in the OP (sabzh21) multiple times and my transactions have went well.
On a somewhat related note, check out these cheaper tattoo removal units on e bay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Portable-Home-Picosecond-Laser-Tattoo-Removal-Pen-For-Mole-Dark-Spot-Acne-Scar/142772125642?hash=item213de1bfca:m:m3k-hEKE6YvbkqVYF5vXHXA
I own one, and it's just a >1W 445nm laser with...
I did test the included goggles at 8:50 in the video! I didn't take LPM measurements because they are clearly useless.
My unit has a "1320nm" tip too but I'm pretty sure it's just a lens in there. The 532nm KTP tip works amazingly well for being outside of the cavity.
I actually own two of...
There are people selling these systems along with totally useless goggles and I'm the irresponsible one? lol. I explained the extreme danger involved on multiple occasions, so it's not like people are going into it blindly if they decided to purchase one after seeing my video. Think about the...
I actually have a diode very close to the 485.0nm mark (as also measured by kecked at SELEM) but I don't know the drive current so I didn't report it here. Dr.Laser has a freak diode that came in at 480nm! I'll check the calibration on my spectrometer sometime soon to be sure about those...
IIRC they are rated for 135mA max and I personally never push them past that. When you go much higher than that you never know if it'll fail quickly or not. It seems a lot of people drive the piss out of them without issues though, and thankfully they aren't super expensive to replace if they...
I need to get around to finishing my build with this! Mainly so I can beat y'all to making the first one. :D
I'll be jamming it inside this old radar gun I got from MarioMaster. I still need to make the heatsink, and since I don't have any good machining tools I'll just be going at a big...
