your laser will have driver board inside..
they used to have potentiometer, or shunt resistor..
measure voltage across shunt resistor divide it by resistor value and you get current going to the diode..
if you need to lover output of the diode replace the resistor with required value...
hardware inside those cheap laser pointers changed a lot.. zenodilodon made a video on youtube where he compared couple of different era pointers..
nowadays drivers inside are literaly consisting of couple of resistors... its ridiculors.. even IR diodes are looking strange .. let alone...
it would be better if you stated what you want from the lens ..
i suppose you want a nice beam/dot... so i have to say G8 lens and 3element are your best choice for that..
find some threads about them here on the forum.. there is plenty.. but to summarize:
G8 is best overall.. nice small dot...
10m or beyond sounds like you want to focus to infiniy..
probably same lens can do the trick.. you have to move it out... find the sweet spot..
if you are not happy with the beam/dot of stock lens than consider G8 or 3element lens..
does anyone notice the thickness of a device?
as far as i recall majority of the compact yellows where thicker than this pen in question that uses 2xAAA..
Not much to be said here, just to show some nice build.
as the title describes the colours, the driver is set to 210mAh..
host is standard brass pen sanded to be completely polished and painted.
beamshot comparison with 488nm cyan
guys those 10440s are unprotected batteries.. is there any way to take care of it so i dont over discharge them?
lets say we have standard double battery pen, so we use one battery and some dummy load.
is there any dummy that can serve as over discharge protection circuit.? or can we make...
i will have red laser pen in this host.. original.. i am going to dissasemble it as it is useless, i just need host for my build. thats why i needed to know how does the button hold in there.. so it is probably glued from factory..
hi guys
i might have hands on that laser host.
but i have one question about button.. how does it hold in there?
from the picture i dont see any lip around it. do you need to glue it to the pcb holder plastic part??
I got 80mw 450nm diode and fall in love with the color.
Thats why i would like it to be more visible. Maybe i could try to overdrive it. But yet i am still not sure if it is sharp or osram. I drive it at 200mA without any problem with heat. So it might realy be osram diode. So i could push it...
