Do you have a link to any pics and detail in a thread or the like? I may be interested 🍺

    Spectrometer Wanted

Wondering what type of spectrometer gear you folks are using, and what are some low cost options for a reasonably accurate setup? I've always wanted to get one, but the price was cost prohibitive. Any suggestions on the latest diy's or inexpensive production models with a USB interface would...

    Found Cyan Laser diodes !

Am I reading that right where the 47 will emit 460nm when driven just over 7A with an output of 500mW at the base of the graph? That is one stubborn diode! 😳

    Extracting Diodes from block

Mine has a max temp of 500c and takes approx 4-7mins of heating evenly with the largest tip and airflow set to its highest. By the time the diodes break loose, both the block and the diodes are at the melting temp of the indium. This is why I like the idea of rapidly heating the block, it's...

    Extracting Diodes from block

Agreed. I have an 852D workstation and it's a great tool for pretty much 99.9% of the work I do. Bought it to reflow PS3 graphics chips, and then used it on these diode blocks to extract. My point was that it may be more stress to the diodes using this tool given the mass and surface area of...

    Extracting Diodes from block

I think an argument could be made in favor of using a a torch in this situation. It looks like the diodes are exposed to less heat for a far shorter duration of time. When we solder diode pins the goal has always been to keep the heating time as short as possible. From what alien posted...

    Found Cyan Laser diodes !

Was looking over the test data, is there any wavelength shift in the NUBM47-A1's by any chance? I cant find much info on these ones.

    Extracting Diodes from block

Sounds like the torch may be a safer method. Been a while since I extracted one of these blocks, but I remember it taking 5mins or more and everything including the diodes were hot 🥵 I saw no degradation running my heat gun at its max of 500c, and will definitely be trying a small torch next...

    Extracting Diodes from block

I wonder what is better for the diodes, the longer process and prolonged exposure of a heat gun or the rapid heating and shorter duration of a torch 🤔

    Extracting Diodes from block

I used my smd hot air gun and sat the array on wood blocks rather than clamping it in a vice or anything thermally conductive. Even tested the raw output of each diode before and then after extraction to see if I had damaged any. Really had my nerves shot for the first one, but all was good.

    Found Cyan Laser diodes !

That's not bad. I was hoping it wasn't too low like in the 30's or the like. Don't think I've ever let a handheld go anywhere near 50, so definitely worrh checking out. 🍺

    Found Cyan Laser diodes !

Forgot to ask, did you happen to notice what approx temperature is the point where the wavelength begins to drop back down whilst being over driven? Also, how much can these diodes take before they fail? I used to run my a140 builds at 1.2 - 1.4a iirc. Don't think I ever got close to 2A let...

    Cats and Dogs

Jumping spiders are quite unique having a strange awareness to their surroundings. If you get their attention simply by standing in front of one, you'll notice they give you undivided attention and will follow your motion closely. Never liked spiders, but the jumpers are fascinating. I don't...

Sweet color. 460 - 490 is the hypnotic part of the spectrum for me 😋

    Found Cyan Laser diodes !

That's crazy! 😮 Been playing with the NUB series for a couple of years and noticed with the 08's that when pushed the blue became lighter, but never realized there were so many others that had such a dramatic shift. I really should have invested in a spectrometer. Thanks for the insight and...
